THE STORY INSPIRED BY IFS (INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS)
The STARGRL collection merges deep inner psychology with luxury fashion by translating Mia McGriskin’s internal world — her parts — into physical form. Inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, the collection explores the different versions of Mia that coexist within her: the vulnerable inner child longing to be seen, the protectors formed through strength and survival, and the luminous core that exists beneath it all. Each piece is designed as an extension of these parts, using luxury craftsmanship, sensual materials, and sculptural storytelling to express emotional depth rather than surface excess. STARGRL becomes both a form of self-therapy and self-celebration, transforming Mia’s inner landscape into high-end fashion that honours healing, visibility, and the power of being fully seen.
STARGRL
HER STORY
Once upon a time, there was a girl who was born a star in the universe. Her light was so brilliant that even as a child, it drew people close, they wanted to bask in her radiance. Yet she herself did not see it. She only felt that she could never belong.
One day, she fell from the skies, a fallen star upon the Earth. Here, she discovered a harsh truth: in this world, no one was allowed to shine. So she learned to hide her light. Her protectors, the quiet, cautious parts of her, believed that if she stayed small, if she stayed silent, she could remain a secret. But one part of her shine could not be hidden: her kindness. And because it shone, others took pieces of her, using her glow for their own gain. She blamed herself, never realizing that her hidden light was still flickering.
Then came a boy. She trusted him with pieces of her glow, giving him fragments of her star. But he saw the pure, white light at her core and stole a part she thought she would never reclaim. Her protectors tightened their grip, and from her fear and pain, a new, shadowed part of her arose. She called him the Darkness. He whispered lies: that the world sought to harm her, that her shine was dangerous, that she could trust no one. And so she became angry, distrustful, hiding herself further.
Yet the star could not forget herself. On her journey to reclaim her light, she met the Blue Boy, a part of her she had never known, whose glow was the most breathtaking she had ever seen. He reminded her of the blue of the ocean. He showed her the truth of the Darkness: not a foe, but a guardian, born from her need to protect her brilliance. Slowly, she spoke to him, learned his story, and forgave him. The Darkness shared his own sorrow: he had lost trust in her too, for she had not protected the star she was born to be. Compassion grew in her heart, and with the Yellow Boy, they nurtured him back to light.
As the Darkness healed, he revealed a secret: the parts of her shine she believed stolen had always been within her, hidden beneath fear and doubt. Her courage grew, her protectors softened, and she realized she no longer needed to hide.
One day, the Darkness spoke again, this time with trust: “I want the world to witness your light again.” And with that, he unfurled her brilliance, offering her all she needed to create her most magnificent shine. “Now shine, Stargrl,” he whispered, and vanished.
Piece by piece, she wove her light back together. Days passed, and when she was done, she became a silver star, radiant beyond imagining. For the first time, she saw herself as she truly was. Her light no longer flickered in secret, it blazed across the sky. Slowly, she let the world glimpse her shine, unafraid, unstoppable, magnificent.
And so, the fallen star remembered that she had always been a star. She had only needed to reclaim her courage to let the world see what she had carried within all along.
