THE CATWOMAN
BEHIND THE COLLECTION
The Catwoman collection, also known as The Alter Ego, is rooted in the psychology of having an alter ego and how fashion can fundamentally shape the versions of ourselves we step into. I became deeply intrigued by the way clothing has the power to transform identity, confidence, and behaviour. One of my favourite DC comic characters, Catwoman, became the core inspiration for this collection, as her original storyline captivated me. Known first as Selina Kyle, she develops her alter ego, Catwoman, as she descends into villainhood. As Selina, she is timid, shy, and diminished by the world around her, a quieter, less confident version of herself. In contrast, Catwoman embodies confidence, mystery, and sexuality, with the only true difference between the two identities being clothing: a latex suit and mask used to disguise herself as she steals diamonds in New York City. Through creating this collection, I felt I was able to embody Selina Kyle’s transformation into Catwoman, exploring how fashion becomes the catalyst for becoming one’s alter ego.
THE CATWOMAN
100% SILK PRINT DRESS
THE CITY ALLEYWAY
This shoot was inspired by the way cats lurk through the alleyways of the city - silent, observant, and instinct-driven. Moving between shadows and flickers of light, they embody a quiet tension and untamed presence, watching before they act. The imagery captures that nocturnal energy: elusive, raw, and unapologetically aware of its surroundings.
This shoot was captured in the alleyways off Shoreditch High Street in London, and photographed by Elizardo Vasquez and modelled by Taman Burns.
THE STORY BEHIND
THE CATWOMAN SILK PRINT DRESS
The Catwoman 100% silk print dress was inspired by Tim Burton’s Batman Returns and Michelle Pfeiffer’s iconic portrayal of Catwoman, who remains my favourite interpretation of the character. She embodied a mysterious, raw sex appeal that perfectly captured how Catwoman should feel— seductive, fractured, and powerful all at once. Using an image of Pfeiffer as Catwoman, I photoshopped and reworked elements of the photograph to translate my own vision onto fabric, before having the final design printed onto 100% silk. The sleeve openings were intentionally given a jagged, ripped appearance, referencing cat scratches as if the garment itself had been clawed apart. Loose silk threads were left dangling at the leg slit to introduce a sense of ruggedness against such a delicate and luxurious fabric. This contrast reflects the idea that while a cat is undeniably beautiful, it also carries a wild, messy side, just as human beings do. The dress becomes a metaphor for our own scratches and scars, mirrored through the treatment of the fabric itself.

DIAMOND LINEN CORSET
BEHIND
THE DIAMOND LINEN CORSET
The Diamond Linen Corset is a key piece from the Cat Woman collection, designed as part of a project using linen supplied by John England. This project was particularly challenging and exciting, as linen is traditionally associated with fluidity, softness, and loose silhouettes rather than structure. I wanted to push against this expectation by experimenting with restraint and fit, exploring whether linen could be engineered into a fully fitted corset, and successfully proving that it could. This piece reimagines Catwoman through my own lens, redesigning her iconic sex-appeal villain persona with references to 1920s vintage lingerie. The corset’s boning layout is inspired by feline fangs, sharp and dagger-like, echoing both danger and femininity. Sustainability was central to the design, so I created my own black dye using blackberries and fruit-based food colouring, then hand-painted leopard print directly onto the linen. The corset is finished with diamanté details placed along the sides of the boning, referencing Catwoman’s original comic-book narrative of stealing diamonds and jewels in New York, allowing the embellishment to function as both decoration and storytelling.

WHAT ABOUT A
MOVIE.
Mia developed and illustrated a conceptual reimagining of the Catwoman suit, exploring how the character could be interpreted if a new Catwoman in a DC movie were to emerge. Viewed through Mia’s perspective, the design fuses high-fashion craftsmanship with mysterious cinematic sensuality, redefining Catwoman as a figure of power, tension, and allure. The sketch investigates themes of glamour, visibility, and identity, presenting a refined yet provocative vision of the iconic character through a contemporary fashion lens.
